3 Weeks! Nice. We have seen similar success with clients as well. I wonder how many local SEO providers have seen the same trend?

Controversial, but I like it - matches a lot of what I've noticed over the past 6 months. For example, I had one client that went from practically nowhere to just below the "places fold" (talking about the cutoff point in 7-pack in this instance), with a brand new site in a fairly competitive niche. That was done in less than 3 weeks, using no citations. Just good old, home-grown organic SEO tactics (primarily traditional edu, gov, PR & social tactics).

Normally not something I do, but the personal situation with this client required non-traditional approach, at least as far as the local SEO goes.

You nailed it! I went back a while and O'Meara had just UNDER 2 stars before this massive wave of FAKE reviews showed up.

From the look of it, one company is doing bogus reviews for all the companies listed.

PURE CRAP!!

I seldom post comments until this time. You have good points, but readers be careful - to be safe, dont believe all you read in the net. If you read an article in one forum, try and study some more. Remember, it is always better to analyze articles from various sources, ponder on them, and judge which one to trust. Greetings from Albania!

Thanks for the interesting post... it made me think. I never considered inclusion to directories as paying for links exactly.

I'm hesitant about paying for inclusion on directories, as most of them look little better than link farms (minus free websites) but if they can prove that they have real traffic that fits my audience I'd class it on the same category as buying ad space.

Re: Spam comment
He is actually using his url as anchor text, which apart from reading really stupid won't really help him much (he should rank for his own url, one would think). He could also use some formatting and paragraphs.

However, compared with the comment spam I get on my blogs this guy gets at least a 7/10. You are lucky :)
